Sangha (sometimes spelled Sanga) is a commune in the Cercle of Bandigara in the Mopti Region of Mali. The principal town lies at Sangha Agolleye. As of 1998 the commune had a population of 23,138.[1]
The town consists of thirteen villages, lying east of Bandiagara at the top of the Bandiagara Escarpment. The most important villages are Ogol-du-Haut and Ogol-du-Bas. It is known as a centre for traditional religion with many temples and shrines, and as a base for visitors to the local Dogon villages. Most of the ethnographic work by Marcel Griaule was carried out among the Dogon of Sangha.
